Each week your practitioner will transport you to a brand new world through a fun, interactive story. Arming you with ideas to explore stories imaginatively with your child at home and providing lots of laughs as you adventure creatively along the way, this class is guaranteed to inspire and amuse you and your little ones... and best of all... the story is completely different every single week!

Our action- packed Early Years Drama classes are enjoyed by parents and carers as much as they are by their children! After an energising musical warm up, we join in with carefully crafted, interactive storytelling with a new and original NYC story each week. We follow this with plenty of dramatic play where we encourage children to take on the words of the characters themselves, interact with each other in role, work together to decide how to set the scene of the story, cooperate as a group to create soundscapes of their adventure and problem solve as they meet characters from the story who have challenges ahead of them!

These classes not only nurture your children's creativity and promote their language development in a non-competitive environment, but provide simple, inspiring lessons in life.

NYC Early Years Drama. Our unique combination of interactive storytelling, original drama games and focused creative play makes this a much–loved part of many establishments' weekly pre-school literacy and communication or expressive arts curricula.

These expertly crafted classes develop your children's language and communication skills. NYC Early Years Drama classes for the 4 - 5's have our original stories at the heart of each weekly journey. Stories have enormous learning power. They can delight, captivate, touch, teach, recall, inspire, motivate and challenge. They also help young children understand and explore the world they live in. So there's no better time to do this than when children are just starting big school!

Mapped to national curricula, NYC classes develop speech, language and communication skills. Classes take your children into an imaginary world where they can comfortably explore feelings, language, movement and self-expression and their relationships with others. Our skilled drama practitioners guide your children through each story creatively, allowing them to imagine and create their very own version as they all become the sights, sounds and characters together.

These classes are a great addition to your literacy, creative or expressive arts planning and also provide a valuable opportunity for observation time if needed. 

Moving up the national curricula age brackets, our unique combination of interactive storytelling, original drama games and structured dramatic play continues to make these Early Years Drama classes a much–loved part of many schools' weekly timetable for the 5 - 7's.

Our skilled drama practitioners guide students through each story creatively, encouraging their ever-growing speaking and listening skills, feeding their imaginations for writing and scaffolding their new found capabilities as readers.

Substituting your trusted, hardworking and dedicated teachers is not easy and particularly for a set period each week. Help is at hand! NYC provides creative, stimulating and enriching classes
that develop speech, language and communication skills during PPA time for many schools. One of our skilled and reliable practitioners is assigned to your school to run our curriculum of classes and will build relationships with children and staff for the duration of the academic year and beyond.

Teachers are kept fully informed on what has been going on during sessions by our Creative Planning Pack, which gives an overview of the class and details the cross-curricula links.

This is a time saving and cost effective means of providing your children with curriculum enrichment whilst ensuring your teachers' PPA time is uninterrupted 

 The all-important Extended Services programme can be time consuming for schools. Why not outsource and offer a NYC after-school club at your school?

Children will love the creative outlet that is a NYC after-school club. With all the important PSHE benefits of a curriculum enriching NYC class, tailored to the specific age-group, with some added fun and games for letting off steam at the end of a hard school day. 

 One Off Workshops

World book day; National Storytelling Week, Easter, Christmas, The Jubilee and The Olympics are but a few of the perfect reasons the one off workshops work so well in schools.

We are able to tailor a one off workshop to the needs of your children and school. Marking an occasion or celebration with a NYC workshop will ensure your children really understand what the occasion is all about. Our NYC original stories make the most complicated themes accessible for little children to understand, learn from and enjoy. 

Low cost sessions that include a fully prepared Project Plan demonstrating how sessions meet your required outcomes.

A 5 week programme for parents/carers and their child, aiming to give the skills and confidence to make story time a regular and fun activity at home. A new book is introduced each week through an interactive read-aloud session led by our skilled drama practitioner. The group uses their imagination to creatively retell that story through dramatic play. Sessions are one hour long. 

Family Story Play is for children aged 12 months - 5 years along with their primary carer. This is the perfect follow-up programme to Family Story skill - it will continue to model good communication and language skills and highlight the importance of stories and creative play in parenting. These sessions are not book-based but use interactive storytelling and dramatic play as a key literacy builder. 

 SEND

NYC is an inclusive, progressive and fun curriculum that all children can access and is an activity that children with a primary need of SEND can engage in alongside their peers. NYC classes are delivered in a caring and enriching environment, catering for visual, kinaesthetic and auditory learners. Each child and every contribution is celebrated as they go on a unique adventure through a new NYC story each week.

Children benefit from the familiarity of the same NYC class structure whilst enjoying the excitement and stimulation that is provided by a new story with new characters and places to explore. Our scheme of work provides additional resources for continued learning and development and saves staff planning time. Furthermore we have a selection of resources available in our free Parent Port for parents to engage with their children at home.

Classes are adapted to suit the needs of the settings, for example we are able to support children who need shorter activities with additional support resources available. This is all considered and planned in conjunction with staff prior to classes starting.
 

 SEMH

With approximately 150,000 children in schools with a primary need of SEMH, we believe that NYC interactive storytelling and dramatic play classes provide very specific benefits and are the perfect opportunity for children to explore their feelings in a safe environment.

NYC Imaginative role play puts children in another's shoes and allows playful exploration of feelings, consequences of behaviour and relationships with others. In our safe, imaginary world children build an understanding of themselves and a sense of community as a group.

Anxious, shy, disengaged and traumatised children have benefitted hugely from the NYC technique. In stepping into the shoes of an imaginary character they can safely explore their world and can use language or actions to convey their feelings more readily. With our experienced staff leading the sessions, this time provides the setting's staff with an opportunity to observe and pick up on things that they may not have noticed before as well as giving them the opportunity to engage with the children in a new and fun way. 

NYC parties engage the children throughout and gently encourage their participation with original games, stories and imaginary characters and places to keep your group entertained for a minimum of one hour. You can choose your favourite characters/animals/story to create a personal package for your child or chose from one of our original party themes.

Our parties are fun, informal and relaxed with minimum hype and volume, so they're perfect for 1-7 year olds including often the shiest of children and are guaranteed to be an unforgettable treat for your little one and their friends! 

We can entertain hundreds of children at once at large outdoor events or little ones during long wedding speeches and delivered special events at town halls and museums up and down the country.
